By participating in the main machinery and equipment fair in Latin America, the municipality reinforces its industrial vocation and presents its new expansion projects.
São Paulo, May 2025 – During EXPOMAFE 2025, several groups of highly representative businesspeople from the industrial sector visited ABIMAQ and Informa Markets, including a group from Piracicaba, one of the country's main industrial centers. The municipality is using the fair as a strategic platform to expand its network, attract new investments, and showcase its competitive advantages. Thanks to its public policies aimed at industrial expansion, Piracicaba has become a leader in the machinery, equipment, motor vehicle, and metallurgy sectors in the state of São Paulo.
The fair is considered the largest showcase of industrial technologies in Latin America and directly aligns with the municipality's potential. To strengthen the relationship with the productive sector and identify partnership opportunities, Thais Fornicola, the Secretary for Economic Development at Piracicaba City Hall, visited the fair and reinforced the administration's commitment to a new cycle of growth. "EXPOMAFE attracts exactly the companies and technologies we want. We came with a keen eye for identifying what can connect to our already-consolidated ecosystem and what we want to develop," she said.
Piracicaba just launched three new industrial districts with the infrastructure necessary for setting up or expanding technology-based and industrial companies. The city also leads the way in several areas. It has a GDP per capita of R$84,000, which is 40% higher than the state average. Additionally, it has experienced 246% growth in the last 20 years, compared to 170% in São Paulo state.
With more than 25,000 formal jobs in the industrial sector, Piracicaba is also home to a robust ecosystem of startups focused on precision agriculture, an expanding technology park, two SENAI units and Esalq/USP, a world reference in agricultural sciences.
Among the city's current highlights is the import substitution project, which encourages local production of parts and components that are currently brought in from abroad, a model that reduces costs and adds value to local production chains.
Thais concludes, "The visit to EXPOMAFE is part of a broader effort to position Piracicaba as a preferred destination for companies seeking innovation, structure, and public policies that promote growth."

With 98% of the booths evaluated as sustainable during assembly, the fair surpasses the global average and consolidates the trend towards awareness in the industrial sector
São Paulo, May 9th2025 - EXPOMAFE 2025 is also consolidating its position as a benchmark for sustainability in the industrial sector. In this edition of the event, 98% of the booths were assessed as sustainable, according to the criteria of the Better Stands program, a global action by Informa Markets.
Since it was implemented at the events held by Informa Markets in Brazil, membership has grown steadily, but at EXPOMAFE, the results were surprising. The high level of adherence to the program reflects the profile of industry, a sector already accustomed to reducing waste, optimizing resources and making processes more efficient.
In addition to the environmental gain, there is also the economic argument: optimized and reusable booths tend to generate less cost in the medium term. "It's possible to be sustainable without sacrificing beauty and visual appeal. The challenge lies in the design. Our own institutional booth followed the Better Stands criteria and will be reused at other fairs," says Herbert Kanashiro, Sustainability Coordinator at Informa Markets Latam.
After dismantling, the final evaluation report will be made available to each exhibitor individually. Each company will receive its own digital seal displaying its rating, which can be bronze, silver, or gold, and they can share these seals on social media and in communication materials.
EXPOMAFE stood out among other events held by Informa in Brazil. In 2024, 92% of the booths at the company's events were classified as sustainable. The current edition of EXPOMAFE exceeded this rate by 6 percentage points. "It's a gradual evolution. At each new fair, exhibitors draw inspiration from one another and strive to improve. Sustainability naturally becomes a collective goal," summarizes the coordinator.
A global benchmark in the sector, Informa Markets Brazil also stands out in the Fundamentals program, which assesses 16 ESG criteria at events. The Latin American region leads the world ranking and Brazil is the best-placed country. "We've been visited by professionals from Mexico and the global headquarters who are interested in understanding what makes Brazilian engagement so effective. That's an important recognition."
In addition to the booths, sustainability is also reflected in other actions at the event, such as the hiring of disabled professionals and actions to combat harassment. "We are committed to setting an example for exhibitors, visitors and society. There is no longer any room for appealing actions or practices that disrespect people, resources and collective intelligence. The future of events is sustainable, diverse and conscious. I It's encouraging to see Brazil leading the way in this movement."

Immersive space allows you to identify the level of technological maturity of the industry and learn about solutions to advance towards Industry 4.0
São Paulo, May 8th, 2025 - One of the most visited spaces at EXPOMAFE 2025, the Demonstrador da Indústria 4.0 (Industry 4.0 Demonstrator) transforms complex concepts into practical and accessible experiences. An initiative of the Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry (ABIMAQ), with SENAI SP as co-organizer, the stand shows in practice how companies can advance through the five levels of technological maturity towards the total digitalization of their processes.
"The Demonstrator helps entrepreneurs to identify which technologies they need to add to their machines in order to evolve on the digital journey towards Industry 4.0," explains João Alfredo Delgado, ABIMAQ's executive director for technology.
The journey begins at level 1 - Computerization, where machines merely automate processes and record data. Next, the visitor moves on to level 2 - connectivity and visibility, where the machines have sensors and the ability to communicate between the modules, and can connect to the cloud and share the data collected. At level 3 - visibility and transparency, data is processed in such a way that reports and analyses can be generated and visualized, informing the operator of any problems and their causes for decision-making.
Level 4 - predictive capacity uses Artificial Intelligence so that machines gain predictive capacity and can predict failures before they happen, calculate the average time between failures and predict the need for maintenance. And finally, level 5 - flexibility and adaptability, shows when machines self-adjust without human intervention.
This last stage is exemplified by a collaborative robot that recognizes parts using scanners and AI and assembles them completely autonomously. At level 4, the robot needs to be reprogrammed if you move something. At 5, it recognizes and adapts on its own.
More than an exhibition environment, the Demonstrator acts as a showcase for the technological solutions available on the market. Entrepreneurs who visit the space can identify their current stage and, at the same time, learn about tools to help them evolve, including access to information on financing.
Entities such as ABDI, Embrapii and FINEP are present to advise entrepreneurs on credit lines aimed at digital transformation. “Today, we have greater access to technology at lower costs and with a wider range of financing options. Many companies have already left Level 1 and are moving forward," says João Alfredo.
Sponsored by ABDI, Beckhoff, and Embrapii and supported by FINEP, the Industry 4.0 Demonstrator remains one of the main attractions at EXPOMAFE, offering an accessible translation of the challenges and opportunities of industrial digitalization.
"Brazil is at a strategic moment to accelerate its technological transition. The Demonstrator clarifies and objectifies this process for entrepreneurs. It's a journey that begins with information and culminates in competitiveness," concludes João Alfredo.

The fair positions the machine tool sector as the engine of progress, connecting innovation, energy efficiency and technology to drive Brazil forward
São Paulo, May 6, 2025 – “Machine tools have been, for more than a century, the invisible foundation of everything we call progress. More than that, because they are present in practically every other productive sector, with the exception of artisanal activities, machines generate: qualified jobs; increasingly more improvement in productivity and quality; contribution to the technological advancement of industry, making it a fundamental pillar for the country’s growth.” With these words, Gino Paulucci Junior, Chairman of the Board – ABIMAQ, began the official opening ceremony of EXPOMAFE 2025.
The largest machine tool and industrial automation fair in Latin America brought together, on the morning of May 6 at São Paulo Expo, authorities, industry leaders and representatives of public and private institutions, in an event marked by inspiring talks and the launch of strategic innovations for the future of Brazilian industry.
During the ceremony, Gino Paulucci Junior also emphasized that, despite the country's economic uncertainties, strengthening of the national industry remains a non-negotiable priority. “The technologies that are here are not just solutions. They are invitations to think differently. Because the industry of the future is built with three forces: Connection. Innovation. And persistence,” underscored, the president, who also added: “If Brazil wants to be relevant on the global stage, we need to value the point where everything begins: with the machines that build the machines.”
Maria Cristina Moreira, president of the Sectorial Chamber of Machine Tools and Integrated Manufacturing Systems (CSMF) of ABIMAQ, highlighted in her speech the daily commitment to strengthening the sector. “The Sectorial Chamber of Machine Tools is proud to be an active part of this important moment. We are committed to strengthening our sector, which is the transformation base of any industry, whether in Brazil or in the world. EXPOMAFE is the reflection of this collaboration; we bring together the most advanced technologies in a suitable space with an extensive program of parallel events to promote knowledge and integration.”
In the domestic market, the machinery and equipment sector moved R$ 18.1 billion in March of this year, an increase of 12.9% compared to the same month in 2024. Maurício Lopes, coordinator of the Organizing Committee of EXPOMAFE 2025, emphasized that the event is the largest of Machine Tools and Industrial Automation in Latin America and of extreme importance for the growth of the industry. “Throughout this week, we will be able to see the most modern advancements being presented by national and international exhibitors,” he stated.
In March, exports of machinery and equipment surpassed US$ 1 billion, after two months of results below that level, marking a punctual recovery in foreign sales. “This year, we’ve surpassed important milestones. We are bringing together more than 1,100 exhibiting brands in an area that exceeds 80 thousand square meters — a 25% growth compared to the last edition. This shows the sector’s appetite for innovation and the strength of national industry even in the face of global challenges,” declared Marco Basso, president of Informa Markets Latam.
The Superintendent of the Indirect Channels and Operations Area of BNDES, Marcelo Porteiro, reinforced the importance of the partnership with ABIMAQ and highlighted that the bank allocated more than R$ 196 billion to the industrial sector via Finame, promoting local production and technological development. For 2025, new, more accessible and competitive credit tools will be made available, with emphasis on the use of development credit bills and funds from the Fundo Clima and Mais Inovação programs.
“Last year, BNDES supported R$ 150 billion exclusively for micro, small and medium-sized companies. We recently announced a very important number: BNDES helped generate approximately 2.6 million jobs, one-third of that originating from micro, small and medium-sized companies supported by BNDES,” said Porteiro.
The fourth edition of EXPOMAFE, which began last Tuesday, is expected to receive 65 thousand visitors.
